nova lily s+s preview

Today is the first day of Spring and it's gorgeous outside! To celebrate, I thought I would share a peek into the forthcoming nova lily spring + summer collection, on which I have been hard at work. This particular part of the collection features a (very) limited run of the loveliest vintage hand-painted floral wood beads in seafoam, spring green, and ivory white strung on incredibly soft deerskin leather lace or suede. I wish I had more of these rustic and vibrant spring floral beads, but being restricted by small quantities is part of the joy of working primarily with vintage, deadstock, and repurposed materials. It keeps things fresh and interesting and means that my designs are either one-of-a-kind or limited edition. I think this is part of the magic of handmade, and not something that I am willing to let go of just yet.

59 - shop updates!

i finally updated the shop this weekend! i have been working on a new series of repurposed antique & vintage plate clocks, some of which are now available here. they're so lovely!

31 - nova lily!

i'm so exicted to share that as of friday, i finally opened the nova lily shop! over the next few weeks (and months), i will slowly be adding new items as it continues to grow and take shape. it feels amazing to have finally taken the leap and planted root.

i can't believe May is coming to an end already! i have not exactly achieved my goal of launching nova lily this month, although to be fair, i have spent more time out of Montreal visiting andrew than i have at home, which also explains my hiatus this past week. my "gone fishing" weekend getaway spontaneously turned into an extended week-long stay with andrew in Pembroke, where i read during the day while he forayed into the bush for work (p.s., he is going to be an amazing forester!). it was absolutely perfect! he drove me back to Montreal on Saturday, and after spending a couple AMAZING days with him in the city, the dust is settling and i can return to work and my ongoing projects.

it's been a wonderful and delightful spring (and also strange, with the unusual amount of rain), but i am ready for summer! now that it's sunny, i can finally take more photos for nova lily in the natural light. but while i have enough goods to open shop and am just about ready to take the leap, i am hesitant to do so with the imminent Canada Post strike. i think it might be better to wait it out... and focus on reading for my comps for now. outside, in the sun.
